SOREEN ENJOYS COST SAVINGS THANKS TO LOBO
Maintenance of equipment and high level cleaning in the kitchens at Soreen Bakery can now be accomplished easily and safely thanks to a British invention – which has also saved the company around £10,000 over the last 12 months.
LOBO is an innovative working at height platform that can be configured to meet any access application. It is put together without any tools and its unique, patented clamp provides a safe and secure working facility up to a maximum height of 10 metres. Personnel can reconfigure the system, adapting it from one project to another, with ease.
“With the Work at Height Regulations coming into force we felt that we needed something more versatile and adaptable to our requirements,” said Eric Houghton, Soreen Bakery health and safety officer. “We have been using LOBO for about a year now and the initial outlay for the system was in fact cheaper than our last scaffold bill.”
Mainly used for engineering related tasks, maintenance and cleaning at height, Soreen Bakery is enjoying the long-term cost saving benefits of LOBO. “Previously we relied on external companies for scaffolding which was very expensive for the business. LOBO can be erected very quickly and this eliminates having to book scaffold days before we actually need it,” added Eric.
By fitting wheels, LOBO can be moved around a site and it can be assembled, taken down and reassembled quickly. It is easy to flat-pack and transport. One of its benefits is that extending kits can be purchased to accommodate changing needs.
“LOBO doesn’t take up a lot of space when stored. Our chief engineer has devised his own method of interconnecting and storing parts of the system within itself. LOBO really is the perfect, safe solution for us,” said Eric.
Robert Bokros, LOBO Systems’ managing director, said: “LOBO combines the versatility and strength of traditional scaffolding with the simplicity and mobility of aluminium tower systems. Because LOBO can be assembled by anyone quickly and safely, it allows labour costs to be controlled and reduced. In most cases the payback time for LOBO is measured in months when compared to conventional scaffolding.”
